Please Note: In order to qualitfy for a CREDIT INTERNSHIP and enroll in ECON/BUS 393, you must have a GPA of at least 3.0. For BBA majors, this GPA includes all required courses for the major. For Economics majors, this GPA includes the 11 courses required for the major, including Calculus.

The Koch Internship program is a paid fall internship program that offers valuable experience living and working in Washington, D.C. during the fall of 2010. The Koch Internship Program is designed to develop young professionals by placing them into a position designed to give real, hands-on experience with a free-market public policy organization.

Upcoming graduates who are looking to get their start in a policy organization can also apply for this opportunity.

Business Services Internship Position

Organization: Queens Economic Development Corporation (QEDC) is a private non-profit located in Kew Gardens, NY. Our mission is to provide broader access to economic opportunity for all residents of Queens County. Our organization has been active for over 30 years with the mission to provide Queens residents and resident businesses broader access to economic resources and intellectual capital in order to cultivate multiple commercial, residential and cultural centers in the borough - which can provide entrepreneurs and business owners with a greater range of choice and flexibility to locate or accelerate their business enterprises.

Program & Position Description: The intern will work closely with the business services team, acting as an assistant to the different program managers. QEDC is an exciting and fast-pace environment where the business services team is responsible for the Queens StartUP! Business Plan Competition, organizing workshops, trainings, networking events, and classes all related to business development. We are a small organization but do very big things within the Borough of Queens.

Duties/Responsibilities: QEDC seeks a well-qualified individual to:
-Help organize and file personal information of start-up and existing business owners.
-Create spreadsheets of participants in our events, and up-date our contact information in order to reach a large pool of people.
-Answer phone calls, greeting guest/clients in a professional manner, conducting oneself as a representative of the QEDC.
-Will attend training sessions and workshops as needed during office and non-office hours (comp-time will be provided).

Qualifications:
-The individual must be highly organized and punctual. Prior experience delivering micro-enterprise training and services is highly desired.
-Must have prior experience in a customer service roll.
-Must be well-spoken and have detailed-oriented character traits.
-Must be willing to learn on the job and be able to pitch in as necessary in different programs that are a part of business services.
-Must be willing to do task big and/or small and will be encouraged to learn as much as possible about what occurs in business services. The more responsibility the intern is willing to assume, the more of a learning curve they will have.
